Biography

HERE IS MY short biography

Vlado Stankovski was awarded his Eng.Comp.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of Ljubljana in 1995, 2000 and 2009, respectively.

He began his career in 1995 as consultant and later as project manager with the Fujitsu-ICL Corporation in Prague. From 1998-2002 he worked as researcher at the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana. From 2003 on, he is with the Department of Construction Informatics at the University of Ljubljana. He lectures in undergraduate computer science subjects.

Vlado Stankovski’s research interests are in semantic and distributed-computing technologis. He has been the technical manager of the FP6 DataMiningGrid project and financial manager of the FP6 InteliGrid project. He also participates in Slovene national grid-related projects, such as: GridForum.si, AgentGrid and SiGNet. His past experience is in applications of machine learning techniques to engineering and medical problems.

March 2003 until present

  • Position: Assistant (i.e. lecturer) in computer science
  • Institute: Department of Construction Informatics, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia
  • Duties: To carry our research in grid computing and semantic Web technologies, participation in National, bilateral and European research projects. To teach undergraduate students in computer science (each Autmn semester).

Autumn 2002 until present

  • Position: Professor (at Colleage) in Computer and Information Science and Informatics in Commerce
  • Institute: Zavod B2 izobrazevalni center
  • Duties: To organize and conduct lectures in the first year of studies, organize and conduct exams and supervise students when preparing diploma thesis. The B2 Colleage offers degrees in commerce and business administration.

January 1998 to February 2003

  • Position: Researcher for the area of biomedical informatics / engineering
  • Institute: University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Slovenia
  • Duties: To develop programs for estimation and visualization of various biomechanical parameters of the hip joint and the carpometacarpal joint of the thumb. State-of-the-Art Object Oriented technology and the Java programming language was used to develop the applications. Gained experience with medical procedures and practice.

January 1997 to December 1997

  • Position: Project Manager
  • Institute: Fujitsu / Int. Computers Ltd., Prague, Czech Republic
  • Duties: Implementation of IT projects for the management of the Czech National Bank and Czech insurance (Ceska pojistovna a.s.) from the area of Decision Support Systems (DSS) / Management Information Systems (MIS).

September 1995 to December 1996

  • Position: Consultant and Software programmer
  • Institute: Fujitsu / Int. Computers Ltd., Prague, Czech Republic
  • Duties: Consultant and programmer for GENTIA Management Information System (MIS) / Decision Support System (DSS).
